USCIS announces the release of a new and revised Form I-9
Thursday, March 7, 2013, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced that it will release tomorrow a new and revised version of Form I-9. After several rounds of revisions and changes, the new and revised Form I-9 will be made officially available through the Federal Register. As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA), the Form I-9 is used by employers to verify a new employee’s identity and to establish and employee’s employment eligibility in the United States. According to USCIS, the new Form I-9 contains formatting changes and the inclusion of additional data fields, including employee’s foreign passport information, telephone number, and email address.

For more than six years, Tammy Saunders has woken at 5:30 a.m., showered, dressed and walked upstairs – to her office. A nurse practitioner, Saunders works as a case manager for Hartford, Connecticut-based health insurer Aetna Inc, helping college students recovering from accidents or surgery get the follow-up services they need.
Megacommuters: 600,000 in U.S. Travel 90 Minutes and 50 Miles to Work, and 10.8 Million Travel an Hour Each Way, Census Bureau Reports
About 8.1 percent of U.S. workers have commutes of 60 minutes or longer, 4.3 percent work from home, and nearly 600,000 full-time workers had “megacommutes” of at least 90 minutes and 50 miles. The average one-way daily commute for workers across the country is 25.5 minutes, and one in four commuters leave their county to work. These figures come from the U.S. Census Bureau’s annual American Community Survey, which provides local statistics on a variety of topics for even the smallest communities.
Employee Management: Why Timekeeping Systems are Beneficial to HR
According to the Fair Labor Standards Act, (FLSA) Employer’s are responsible for collecting and maintaining accurate records regarding the number of hours each employee works. Many states also require employers to document worked time, break time and leave time. Establishing a reliable timekeeping system also helps HR manage employees, track performance management, and stay on top of payroll compliance! Time management systems come in many forms including: time clocks, handwritten time cards, employee badge readers, and electronic workforce management solutions. Employers who rely on automated systems find they can save time and money while increasing processing efficiency!
How Employers Can Service the Unbanked and Underbanked Employee
A recent survey by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) found that about 68 million people are either unbanked or underbanked in the United States. Not only are data points like this stunning, they are a realization of the need for a wide range of options when it comes to the most convenient ways to pay diverse employee groups.

The Age of HR Has (Finally) Arrived

To understand why this is the case, it’s helpful to take a look back at how various corporate functions have ebbed and flowed in importance over the past 25 years.
