This week’s HR News Roundup from around the web: How HR can impress the C-Suite, how to benefit from employee engagement, what the CVS healthcare plan means for HR, and how Twitter can be beneficial to HR.
HR professionals: 7 tips to get attention from C-Suite
For many human-resources professionals, getting buy-in from the C-suite can be a challenge when top-level executives are strapped for time. Further, HR and C-suite representatives communicate in fundamentally different ways. In a CareerBuilder article, Beverly Flaxington, a certified professional behavioral analyst, shares her tried-and-true tips for HR professionals to effectively communicate with executives and gain leverage to achieve their goals.
Twitter is More Beneficial to HR Than You May Think
Social media platforms have become increasingly popular among businesses for hiring purposes. Widely used social networks have also contributed to companies’ revising their privacy policies to include guidelines for professional use of these networking sites in employee handbooks and company rules and guidelines. As human resource managers, businesses, and recruiters continue to utilize virtual recruitment strategies to find talent and maintain a presence online, it may be a good idea to add a Twitter account to the list of sites organizations use to attract new talent and engage employees.

Herb was very excited because it’s an opportunity with a particular financial institution that he had been coveting for some time. Rewinding two weeks, the submission and recruitment process went fantastic as Herb actually located the position online, submitted his resume, and was contacted immediately.
What CVS’ controversial wellness plan means for HR
CVS Pharmacy is getting a lot of press (good and bad) for its controversial new wellness initiative. Is it legal? And, if so, should your company follow suit? CVS recently launched a wellness initiative requiring staff on the firm’s health plan to have a doctor measure their weight, height, body fat, blood pressure, glucose and fasting lipid levels by May 1 and report the findings back to the company. Those who fail to do so will be charged an extra $50 per month in health insurance premiums.
